  • National Nursing Week 2022 – We Answer the Call

National Nursing Week is from May 9 to 15 and is meant to recognize the many contributions of nurses. It also celebrates the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthdate on May 12.

Thank you to all the incredible nurses who have gone above and beyond to ensure the health and well-being of Bethany’s residents.

Nurses play an integral part in our Bethany community and their roles here are diverse and equally important. From our Licensed Practical Nurses who serve the residents at the care centres, to the nurses within our Executive Leadership Team that make decisions for future residents, nurses are a vital part of our community.

Nurses are often the ones with whom patients and their family members have strong personal relationships, working tirelessly to provide day-to-day and even minute-by-minute care. And now more than ever, our nurses on the front lines provide care to our residents during the COVID-19 pandemic and we thank them for their courage and commitment.

National Nurses Week is important every year and we want to say thank you to this special group of healthcare providers.

Please look out for reminders about National Nurses Week at our sites and on social media.

  • Pink Shirt Day 2021, Kindness – It’s Who We Are

On February 24, 2021, organizations around the world will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day.

At Bethany, our key values focus on being caring, showing respect, acting responsibly and embracing diversity. Pink Shirt Day is a great reminder about our organizational values and how we act on them.

Make the focus of Pink Shirt Day about kindness. Small acts of kindness not only benefit the receiver, but also the giver and the whole organization, thereby creating a positive workplace culture.

Kindness should be something we practice every day. If we perform one act of kindness every day, our workforce will be a healthier place for us and those we serve and care for. Remember to practice social distancing and follow PPE procedures when showing your acts of kindness this year.

Don’t forget to practice self kindness and recharge your batteries. Exercise and eat a healthy diet. Find ways to relax, such as meditation, yoga, listening to music or practicing deep-breathing exercises. Do these regularly!

So on February 24th what will you do to practice kindness? Will you do something for someone in your life, someone you care for, or yourself? Let’s show our support by wearing pink shirts.

And always remember, if you or someone you know needs assistance, check out our Employee Assistance Program, LifeWorks or our current list of helpful resources.

They are often the ones with whom patients and their family members have strong personal relationships, working tirelessly to provide day-to-day and even minute-by-minute care. And now more than ever, our nurses on the front lines to provide care to our residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
